Running a business is anything but predictable, right? But that’s where resilience and adaptability come in.

3 Resilience Traits You Need

1. Adaptability

The world changes fast. Businesses that last are the ones that can pivot without losing their core identity.

2. Optimism Grounded in Reality

Optimism isn’t about ignoring problems. Resilient entrepreneurs find the balance between seeing the bright side and facing the hard work head-on.

3. Long-Term Vision

The day-to-day can feel overwhelming, especially when things don’t go as planned. Keep your focus on where you want to go, not where you are right now.

Pivotal Story of the Week

Real Talk: Jamie Kern Lima’s IT Cosmetics Journey

One of the most inspiring stories of resilience I’ve come across is Jamie Kern Lima’s journey with IT Cosmetics. Jamie was struggling with rosacea and couldn’t find makeup that covered it properly, so she created her own.

But it wasn’t an instant success. Far from it.

Jamie spent years pitching her product to investors and beauty retailers, only to face constant rejection.

Many told her that people wouldn’t buy from someone who didn’t fit the industry’s traditional beauty standards.

After hearing "no" over and over, most people would have given up. But not Jamie. She believed in her product and its ability to serve real women with real skin issues.

Her breakthrough came when she took a huge risk by pitching her brand on QVC.

She appeared on live TV, wiped off her makeup to show her rosacea, and demonstrated the product’s coverage in real-time.

The result? The product sold out in minutes.

Years later, Jamie sold IT Cosmetics to L’Oréal for $1.2 billion — but her success came from sticking to her mission, even when it felt impossible.

Takeaway

Resilience means trusting your vision, even when others don’t.

It’s about knowing that the right opportunity will come, but you have to stay the course and be ready for it when it does.

See you next week with fresh energy!
